Raleigh-Durham Eye Care Services

To give your eyes the best chance at lifelong health, prevention and early detection is key. The doctors at Kelly Eye Center, among the best eye doctors the Triangle has to offer, are proud to offer patients with comprehensive eye exams… Whether this is your first eye exam, you are working to maintain your current eye health, or you have received a new medical diagnosis, our expert staff will provide the cutting-edge care you need to maintain optimal eye health for years to come.

Planning for Your Exam

Before your appointment, be sure to ask if the exam will affect your vision temporarily and decide if you will need someone to drive you home. You should also ensure your insurance is accepted and contact your insurance company for an estimate on your visit cost. When you arrive for your appointment, be ready to discuss any vision-related problems you have been experiencing.

In addition, we recommend the following steps to prepare for your appointment:

  • Bring your medical health and eye insurance information
  • New patients – please bring your completed new patient paperwork
  • Be prepared to discuss any health problems and/or allergies
  • Be prepared to discuss previous eye diseases or surgeries related to eye injuries
  • Be prepared to discuss your family’s history of eye disease
  • Let your doctor know about any prescription or over-the-counter drugs you are taking
  • Remove eye makeup prior to your eye exam

At Kelly Eye Center all comprehensive eye exams include:

  • Extensive medical history
  • Refraction Measurement – vision test for refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia)
  • Tests for binocular and color vision
  • External examination of the eye and lids
  • Microscope exam to detect cataracts, dry eye, and corneal disease
  • Muscle balance evaluation to determine ocular alignment
  • Vitreous examination for floaters
  • Evaluation of macular degeneration and other retinal diseases
  • Pressure check to screen for glaucoma

Kelly Eye Center specializes in optometric care for individuals aged 6 and above. Please note that we do not provide services for children under the age of 6. We recommend consulting with a pediatric eye care specialist for the unique needs of younger children. Thank you for your understanding.
